frequently asked questions

  • Personal color analysis is the process by which we can determine your most harmonious color tone using the three dimensions of color.

The 12-Tone TCI Method is a color analysis system based in color science, accurate interpretation of the Munsell color system, and the science of natural color harmony.

By using a grey neutral setting, I create a canvas to see how color is creating harmonious or disharmonious optical illusions on your skin and overall image.

Hue, value, and chroma are the three dimensions of color that I will teach you about and use to determine your results.

At the end of the process, you will have a personal color palette with over 65 of your best colors and neutrals for clothing, makeup, and more.

When using your best colors, you present a more unified image, exude confidence, and have more direction in styling!

  • The TCI personal color communication method is based on the science of natural color harmony, accurate interpretation of the Munsell color system, full-spectrum light theory, human physiology, and psychology.

To become a TCI Certified Personal Color Analyst, I completed the official TCI Personal Color Analysis Training and worked with a TCI Certified Trainer to assess my skills (which are reviewed annually). Basically, I’ve received color analysis training straight from the source!

  • Fill out the inquiry form, and I will follow up to schedule a time for your appointment.

I will send you an email with details for the day of.

An email will come your way with any other details to prepare for the appointment, but your 90-minute session will include education on the TCI color method, full color analysis and draping, and tips for how to swatch and utilize your color palette.

  • If you are not in the Spearfish area, please inquire about a travel appointment. I am very open to traveling around to other surrounding Dakota cities!

  • Your hair grays perfectly in harmony with your natural coloring. I know it’s stunning!

If your hair is naturally grey, this will not affect the analysis. If you come in with colored hair, we will use a grey cap to neutralize your hair for the analysis.

We can discuss other hair colors that will naturally harmonize with your color tone post-analysis!

You’re welcome to take a photo at the end with your hair and color drape together.

  • I recommend having this time to relax and focus on your personal analysis - think of it like a little spa day!

If your child is receiving an analysis, they are welcome to come. A guest is also welcome to observe, and always welcome to come for a joint analysis.

  • If you were analyzed in a different method, it is very likely you will have a different result. If you were typed in the 4-Season Method (which only has options for warm or cool undertones), you will likely get a different, more specific result with the 12-Tone Method because it has options for neutral (warm-neutral or cool-neutral) undertones, which is 2/3 of the population. This method is more scientific, reliable, and proven beyond the 4 Season approach. It's a great way to get the most accurate and specific result.

Similarly, if you were analyzed virtually or digitally, it is very likely you will have a different result. Digital images are unreliable; computer monitor calibration varies widely and does not present color accurately.
